Default Dusting off an old toy

I built this about a year and a half ago to use in a class project.

It was originaly "supposed" to be some kind of Dalek dreadnaught since my project was Dr Who themed.
But as time ran out i decided to go with somthing simpler.

I just brought it out to play with some more global lighting rigs.

The Front

The Back

Here is a frame from an animaiton showing it fireing it's main weapon.

Here are a couple of animated scenes I rendered as part of the class project.

mockup.avi 2.7 megs 640x366 divx compression

mockup2.avi 2.8 megs 320x183 divx compression
Same as above except with sound effects

Looks almost Vorlon in design.

Nice.

I was going to say that. More of a B5 influence than Dr. Who.

Yeah it was "supposed" to be a dalek ship.
But as I ran out of time I had to come up with a something in a hurre and made this.

The completed project is still "Who" themed tho.

I was actualy trying to get the texturing even more Vorlon-ish at one time but decided that the irregular surface was more interesting.

Very kewl!! I have to agree it's more B5. Even in the series teir transport ship was more blockie.

And, I have to ask... how did you do that wonderful rotoscoping of the energy?

Yeah by the time i'd gotten to the rendering t had long since stopped being dalek

For the energy effects i used the video post effects in max.
The inital charge (green misty energy) was an invisible animated cylender with an inferno setting to the glow
The Energy collector where the energy builds up was a glow with an electerical setting.
The Discharge was a regular glow attached to a partical system.
And i added the same electrical setting from the energy collector for a little continuity..
