Default Carolina Class - JJ Style

I came across an old model of the Carolina I had lying around a week or so ago, and thought that it would be cool to mod it a bit to let it fit with the style that's used in the upcoming movie. Reviewing the model again, I came to the conclusion that it was utter crap, and have started from scratch again. Here's a fast WIP image; I am aware of some of the errors in the mesh. So... What do you guys think about it?

I saw "JJ Style" and I was thinking it could either be good or bad but this is really good. I like the looks of it so far. I think the extra roundness in the front of the deflector housing fits this style of ship better than it does the Constitution-class style.

Here's the updated back. I tried to use the same fin-like thingies as on the Enterprise, but in a different configuration. I think it worked out quite well

That's nice. I really like those fins, especially the way they stick out of the back like that.

I cooked up a ship logo, I've decided that it could be cool to have the ships have their own logo in this universe as well. While it's stretching the new canon, I think it would be cool. Anyone try and guess where the inspiration comes from?

OK, that made it a lot easier. My new guess is the little C-shaped cuts or whatever they are all over the sketch.

I like the new movie but I just wished that the designers took a look at some of the designs on the net of the enterprise, cus if they did the look of the movie would have been way diff!!!

I think it's easy to say that but, out of all the designs out there, which do you pick? I mean, there are literally dozens of redesigns/reboot fan designs for Trek out there (if not hundreds.)

BTW, Ryan Church is a great designer. You should check out his site:

So... Here are some new renders. I've been busy with her on and off, but I've hit a bottleneck in the form of the nacelle pylons. Those are some pretty nasty bast*rds! In the meantime, you'll have to do it with these pics

I'd point out all the stuff I think looks good but everybody else had already done so.

This will be the layout for my bridge:

Here's a first render of it; the next render will be done in a few hours. I've decided to add a big door in the aft of the bridge, making the other circular construction into a toilet / shower, with the conference room doubling as the captain's ready room. This is a small ship, so certain rooms have a double function. I will have to figure outwhat the best way will be to decorate it but that's of later concern.

So yeah, five big ole screens, and all five of them can be used as console thingamajiggers. I'm pretty satisfied with the result ^_^

Wow, that looks great so far. Is it based off of one of the sets from the movie or just something you're making up as you go?

I'm just making it up, it's a bit of a hybrid between all kinds of bridges and based of the shape of the Constitution's bridge.

Here's a new batch of images from the bridge. I've started work on the lounge, and right now the turbolift is in the works as well.

From the outside you can see the iris lock that locks off the turbolift shaft. I wanted to put a normal sliding door in it but then I realised that there's no space for that; I think this solution is elegant enough The other portrusion will go, as that spot will house the head.
