QUESTION FAQ Thread

Ok, I guess I'll start an FAQ thread here seeing I don't see any on any forum on this site. If there is one, I'm sorry. And just so you know, I AM asking these questions. Not that anyone doesn't answer them.
Awesome site BTW!!!!

1. What programs are out there to do 3D art like the professionals? Where can you get it? How much does it cost retail?

2. How do I know I'm qualified to be a 3D artist? What if I don't have an art background? Where can I get formal training to become a 3D artist?

3. What are "meshes"? Obviously, there's a bit of talent and skill involved in making meshes, but how long does it take to make a mesh? A full 3D model? A 3D animated short?
