Seriously, I put big engines on it to show that they were primitive. That's how I usually design things. I try to avoid the idea, which is pretty prevalent in trek fan designs, that bigger means more powerful. Instead, I follow Soviet-era design principles which state that bigger means less efficient and unrefined. Got to find jobs for all those shipyard workers.

The Klingon ship looks good.
By the way, I was reading about the Qu'noS version of the K'tinga cruiser used in STVI. They painted stripes and other markings and attached all sort of photo-etched details to show that this ship had seen a lot of action. Supposedly, after a (victorious) battle, they would decorate the ship. You could put similar markings on these older Klingons. I've always liked the marking around the front of the weapons port on the head of the K'tinga.
