Well I thought it was about time I would go about building a scene. And well looking at some of the work Tobias Richter turns out with Maya, I knew I would have to really try hard to match him..

So heres my WIP of a scene I've been working on, 8hrs work to the last pic on this scene

There should be some sort of light, ambient glow symbolizing the light from the sun refracting in the atmosphere. Nice work, so far.

The improvement through that serie of images is quite impressive. I like the last one a lot, but the plnet still needs a lot of work. For one thing, I'd suggest excluding the planet from all of the lights except for the key light, so that it isn't lit on the dark side like the ship is. Then, you need to tweak the atmosphere a bit. I don't use either LW or Maya, so I can't help you with that, I'm afraid.

Thanks to the three who have made comments so far..

I will look at the atmosphere of the planet, next. I've removed all lights from the planet, but the keylight.

The light that is seen on the nightside of the planet is what would be generated by cities etc.. IF you haven't guessed this is Coruscant or should be.

anyhow here is the next pic.
