As I understand it, you'd make a master in clay, make a mold from plaster and then cast the bronze in that. Simple really. :) The hard bit is making the clay figure in the first place...

we are talking liquid bronze that burns your fingers here, righ? :D

Yes. :D

actually... no lol

the Bronzes are Cold Cast (Resin and powdered Bronze)
the Silver ones are Pewter (easy to work with)

Dad takes about 3 - 7 days to make a master in Milliput (2 stage car filler used by modelers a lot) on a wire frame work. first he blocks out the rough shape, lets that set (or bakes it much to mum's annoyance that he left it that close to the deadline *again*) then carves and files it...

just wish I could show you all his paintings as well.. seen him knock off a quick Rembrant just for practice (brush style etc but a new pic lol) then paint that out with his own work...

You two ought to get together for a big ol' mural. You paint the ship, and he does the people standing in the windows...

But combined... you could be more powerful than you ever dreamed!

Oh god, why oh why did I tell him that?

Seriously, if you want to learn people, my best advice would be to pick up a drawing journal and draw people wherever you go. Pretty soon you'll be able to make a face like that. Er... like... THAT. Uhm... you have to imagine I'm snapping my fingers here.
