I am looking for a few 3d models for my star wars collection. There used to be a Poser C3p0 and wookie. Has anyone a link to these models or access to them?

This is the most comprehensive listing that I've currently found.

It depends on what format you are looking for. There is a fantastic site at http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freestuff.asp that has lots of freebies. They are in Poser format but they can be used in other applications able to import Wavefront OBJ models.

Without getting too technical, Poser almost always uses the OBJ format for the geometry of models, and other files for rigging and other information. The textures are JPG or similar files which are applied to the groups in the mesh.

I say almost always uses OBJ for geometry because some files can use what's called 'internal' geometry where the geometry information is stored inside another file format which contains additional information as well as the geometry. There are free tools that allow you to strip the geometry out to a separate OBJ file though. Take a look through the forums at http://www.renderosity.com for more information.

FWHS, I know that your link below shows Vanishing Point as a resource for Star Wars stuff. I wanted to make the site known to others maybe looking for such models. Vanishing Point also has other sci-fi freebies such as Babylon 5, Star Trek, etc.

I'm in no way affiliated with Vanishing Point. I just happen to appreciate their generosity and good models. :)

After a longer search I´ve found two of my Low-Poly-Models in LW9-Format. I´m sure that I have the others ( inclusive C3PO and a Wookie ) anywhere too - also in some other formats :D. I´ll keep a closer look on the dephts of my Harddrives this weekend and I´m looking forward to find them... :)

C3PO can be found at my site in download (http://www.fwhsdesigns.com)s
Wookie can be found at 3dMenagerie's (http://www.3dmenagerie.com/) Web Site - Click goodies Then in 3D click poser and look for - "Very Tall Guy in a Hairy Yak Suit". It is not the greatest.

Does anyone know if there are any battledroids for poser? I know there is a Droideka going around somewhere (i havnt managed to find it yet, but there is a broken link on Rendorosity)

Can Poser import Lightwave 5.6 format? If so, there are Battle Droids here in the downloads section in .lwo format.

I have to look into this sometime for characters to populate my Buck Rogers Images

Poser 7 can import lightwave models, but they are not rigged. Plus, they have to be assembled and this can be quite time consuming and not really worth the effort. I am quite suprised that no one seems to have created a battledroid for poser though.

Ah well! :storm:

Well, all it takes is a little time and effort and you yourself can convert the LW versions over to Poser ;)

I know, but i simply dont have the patience. lol I prefer to just get on with the art itself.

The trick to truly great art, however, is knowing how every part of it works. Additionally, when you do the art, being able to say YOU created everything in it is a source of accomplishment ;)

Probably because it takes a lot more time to build, assemble and rig a model than it does to simply import, assemble and rig one. ;)

It's rough finding all the models that you want in the format you use. I know, I've tried. Sometimes you do have to import if you really want a mesh that you don't feel like building. The only battle droids I've been able to find are in Lightwave, Max and 3DS format. So, you might have to import one and convert it if you really want one.

Most of my star wars art features post clone wars era anyway, so battle droids are not that important to me. I just wanted to try some out. I think i will just keep my eyes open for one in the future, but continue to carry on with the reliable ol' Stormtroopers :storm:

Ah, good ol' Stormtroopers. Whether they're the original Clones or the later (or earlier, depending on your POV) "volunteers," they're way better than any battle droids. ;)

I'm actually for one called "The 'Brak Pack", for making your own Zabrak. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Finally I´ve found my Lightwave SW_Figures. ( I guess there are a few more I´ve not found yet... ) I think that´s a good reason for beginning to learn something about making skeletons and animating figures...

Nice collection. Did you make those or download them?

Nice collection. Did you make those or download them?

I´ve extracted it from the PC-Game "Jedi Knights III - Jedi Academy" by myself and re-textured it with the original textures in Milkshape. After that I´ve converted it with Milkshape into LW-format. Finally I´ve loaded the meshes into LW, adjusted a few values and rendered it.

I´ve seen a rancor mesh at scifi3d and it looks original as the PC-mesh - I guess someone have had the same idea as I and has uploaded a "copyright-by-lucasart-mesh" there...

In that case, nice work. I've seen where other people have converted game meshes before. (specifically, a Galaxy-class) :)
