Slaughter Month? I don't even want to go there.

Drum month could be interesting. Let me go find my drum.

Monday's going to be busy.

dfalconet November 5th, 2004 09:18 AM

I waited for the barbarians all day yesterday. They never did show up. Do any of you know what happened to them or where they are?

Darrell Lawrence November 7th, 2004 05:54 PM

Sorry this Warrior didn't come over, mom :D

....uhhh One holiday is missing!!! Figure out which one it is.

Darrell Lawrence November 9th, 2004 12:17 AM

I see one of the dates got edited :)

....hmmm Today- Nov. 9 is Chaos Never Dies Day

Riiiight... my life is definatly one of Chaos! Where's Maxwell Smart when you need him? :D

skyhawk223 November 9th, 2004 06:42 AM

Well you "Missed him by that much"
Check that mailbox over there. I saw 99 hanging around.

dfalconet November 9th, 2004 08:08 AM

With 99 around, Max can't be far away. I would think the phone booth would be a better place to look. Watch your step!!

Darrell Lawrence November 9th, 2004 03:49 PM

That wasn't 99... it was 66 over there standing on her head.

General Phoenix November 11th, 2004 09:41 PM

Breathed a bit of air today, but not as much as I would have liked. Caught a cold this week, so I'm not feeling too great. I just hope I get over it before my Thanksgiving vacation.

Darrell Lawrence November 11th, 2004 10:38 PM

Well... I talked to a few people full of hot air today...

And it looks like everyone forgot yesterday! *L*

skyhawk223 November 12th, 2004 06:14 AM

Pizza anyone?

dfalconet November 12th, 2004 09:24 AM

Are you buying?

Today should be Air Day in our valley. It is so fresh and clear after a few days of rain. I will breathe twice as much of it today to make up for missing yesterday.

dfalconet November 12th, 2004 09:26 AM

General Phoenix,
Sorry you are not feeling well. Maybe you could order a pizza with extra vitamin C and with some Nyquil spread over all. Just stay away from the anchovies.

Darrell Lawrence November 12th, 2004 03:13 PM

I wonder if I should combine today and tomorrow and have a pudding pizza on both days...

dfalconet November 16th, 2004 10:34 AM

Nov. 16

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WARRIOR!! Have some :milk: and :oreo: and a GREAT DAY!

Darrell Lawrence November 17th, 2004 01:42 AM

:) Thanks.

skyhawk223 November 17th, 2004 05:40 AM

A Birthday? Yeeee haaawww!!!
And just what did the birthday boy receive on his special day?

dfalconet November 17th, 2004 12:42 PM

He got milk and cookies, smiles, sunshine, winks, etc. Didn't you see that? Oh, and he also got a bad time from his mom. The nerve of him turning 40. Now I can't say I'm 39 anymore.

dfalconet November 17th, 2004 12:53 PM

Nov. 17th

I managed to take a short hike today to take some pictures, trying out my new digital camera. I wanted to get some pics of the radio observatory which is a few miles from Big Pine. I hiked all over the hillside looking for the best view of the complex and ended up right back at my car where it turned out the view was best. This observatory is one of the SETI links.

skyhawk223 November 18th, 2004 05:59 AM

Are you going to post them?

dfalconet November 18th, 2004 12:01 PM

I hadn't intended to, but if you don't mind pictures by an inept photographer, here they are. Actually, they turned out quite well considering who took them. Amazing camera.

The first two are of the Sierra Nevada mts. west of Big Pine. The second one has Big Pine's very own volcano. It is the dark cone shaped hill in the center of the pic.

The other two are of the CalTech Radio Observatory to the north-east of Big Pine. This area is now restricted so I couldn't get any closer. It used to be you could walk right in amoung the dishes and the tracks they run on. There were two other of the large dishes which must have been at the western edge of the tracks as I couldn't get a good shot of them. In the background of the last pic you can see the foothills of the White mts. which are east of Big Pine.

Darrell Lawrence November 18th, 2004 12:10 PM

Oooh! Purty!

Reminds me of where I live!

...errr Wait a sec... That *IS* where I live! :D

General Phoenix November 18th, 2004 10:05 PM

A volcano? Cool - ever sacrifice a virgin to it? :)

Darrell Lawrence November 19th, 2004 02:55 AM

...now why would my mom sacrifrice a virgin at the Volcano?

As you can see from the other pics, there were to many observers around!

skyhawk223 November 19th, 2004 06:08 AM

Wow, your very own volcano. Ever go up and toast marshmallows around the rim?
Looks like some good snow up in them thar hills.

Darrell Lawrence November 19th, 2004 09:27 AM

I've never really paid attention to knowledge of the volcano lately, but I seem t orecall when I was growing up some information that even though it is inactive, the lava tubes still have a bit of warmth that come from them, and snakes... namely the rattle variety, nest in them.

I *do* know you have to have some thick, tough soled footwear to hike up to it though. The lava rocked ground will tear up tires and footwear rather easily.

dfalconet November 19th, 2004 09:33 AM

General Phoenix-----Couldn't find any over the age of 18. That is the minimum age for this kind of thing you know.

Skyhawk----This volcano has been dormant or maybe even extinct for at least a jillion years. Maybe if someone could find a virgin to sacrifice it would come back to life. But that seems a little extreme just to toast some marshmallows, don't you think?

Extra Note----There are lava tubes up there that have been explored to some extent by the locals. Never been there myself but maybe Warrior knows more about that if you want to ask him.

dfalconet November 19th, 2004 10:12 AM

Nov 19th HAVE A BAD DAY DAY

Yes, this IS a bad day for me. :sigh: And don't ask! I'm trying to be calm and not think about it too much. Any discussion is likely to bring on buckets of tears, bad language, foot stomping tantrums, or maybe even salt shaker throwing. Hope your day is better.

skyhawk223 November 19th, 2004 02:10 PM

My day has been just peachy so far. Going out to dinner now. See you later. Hopefully things will improve. At least the weekend is coming up.

Darrell Lawrence November 20th, 2004 01:24 AM

Just think... we live in an area where we have earthquakes, a volcano, and when it rains heavily, flooding. Sometimes when winds get real high, we have problems there too... we have mini tornadoes, AKA dust devils.

How many places could you find to live that has all of natures disasters- Earth (earthquakes), Wind (howling winds), Water (flooding) and Fire (volcano)?
