ADDENDUM: (by eg180 12/29/2012) When you're putting
your location, put your city and state/province/country.
Don't put your house number and street name or anything
like that. That won't help to get you approved for anything.
When we search for your IP Address, the sites that tell us
where you are give us a city and state, not a house number
and street name. Please make this as simple as possible
for all of us. Once you're approved, you can change your
location to anything you want that's not vulgar or offensive
to anyone. Until then, put your city and state/province/country.
Thank you.

Example of what not to put:

123 Lollipop Lane

Example of what to put:

Berlin, Germany
Orlando, FL
Beijing, China

IF you put your number and street name, you will not be approved.

Bump.

Also, to people who think they're being cute or whatever by putting their zip codes in the "location" box instead of a city, state or country: you're starting to irritate me. It doesn't happen often but you know who you are. I'm not an encyclopedia of zip codes, so that's one more thing I have to look up to verify your location and I hate having to take extra steps. So, please knock it off.

So, please just put a normal location in that box. You can change it to whatever you want (provided it doesn't violate any rules regarding vulgarity, etc.) after you've been approved.

Re: New Registrants: Read this post

Bump.

And we're serious about the IP Address thing. I had a user earlier have an incognito IP that I couldn't get a read on where they were from. The only reason ot have an incognito IP is if you're up to not good. This individual also thought he/she was cute and put an IP (a different one) in the location field. Not only did it not match, but it was also incognito. That user was denied. So, put your location (your real location) and we're good. I'm not playing games with this stuff (neither is the rest of the staff.) I look at at least 2 or 3 registered users a day for possible admittance and I don't need extra work or headaches when doing this stuff.

I still wish we could just have this thing permanently on the front page.

Still serious about this IP/location thing, people. Your IP must match what you put in the location box or you'll not be approved, it's that simple.

Re: New Registrants: Read this post

Yes always a problem.

also making it clear that, you only need to say where your true location is when first registering,, once approved you can change it........

Its only required for registering

Re: New Registrants: Read this post

That's true. Lie all you want after being approved, but we need honesty at registration.

No need to bump it. When not logged in, ie a person prepping to register, they see the link in a notice at the top.

Re: New Registrants: Read this post

Yeah, no need to bump it. However, finding a way to get some people to actually read it would be helpful.
