Re: Star Trek Models and Resources

After much searching, I found this site. I use Daz3d and poser 8. Recently, after doing a few star trek uniforms, I decided to look for models of the various vessels, thing is, most are for blender or 3ds, which I don't have. Does anyone know where to find files that would work in poaser or daz?

Looking for the earlier starships, TOS. I found the ptolmey, but there are circles that appear about the nacels during rendering. I have yet to figure that one out. I am new to this, so there is much I still yet have to learn. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

I have no clue about poser and Daz myself but there are members who do

give it some time and I am sure someone will point you in the right direction

cool, but no Galactica discussion or models are allowed here.

for Classic BSG related discussion and Art go to our sister site
http://www.colonialfleets.com/forums/.
but only art for the new show is allowed no discussion for the NUBSG show is permitted .

it only deals with the classic BSG for chats :)

but feel free to look around and join in :D

Don't care much for the new. However, in relation to my first passion, star trek. I have found images and diagrams of the old light cruiser class, Texas.
I was hoping someone might know where to find the mesh of this vessel. A small vessel, but really cool. I can't find any data as to crew compliment or capabilities. What I have learned if their motto- catch me if you can. Apparently a fast ship for its time. Anyone have any suggestions that might aid in my search?

I thought I knew most of the classes in Star Trek

can you post an Image. it would help a lot.

you can only post an attachment after you have posted 5 times or more.

so there is a lot of new art and Projects been posted ..there you can give use our thoughts and ideas..

also the introduction thread ..

getting back to your ship. once some one can see the design you might get help on it if they have time ....models can take time :)

No problem. I'd never seen it either, that's where the Starship Schematics Database comes in handy. :)

That's the ship! Yes, I have seen those. I recently captured several renders of it as well. When I am able to post an image, I will. Created by Adam Turner, I believe. But don't know if there are meshes or not, but sure hope so.

That's the old light cruiser from the original Star Fleet Battles. As I recall it was from the Earth-Romulan war and by the TOS era of SFB was considered an antique.

Bryce [free from Daz3d] can open 3ds files although that term seems to be applied to a couple of formats, one of which no it can't.

Some of these will work in D/S and/or Poser.

Will keep one busy for days!

PoserRay [free] will convert some .lwo files into .obj files which can be imported into either program as well.

Love the redesign of the new ships, those link are interesting thanks. Still not sure about that 2009 movie, who sets up lights facing a camera for all the major scenes?
I'm not sure if this is the best place, and I apologise I'm not much of a trekkie but has anyone come across an Enterprise F?

JJ Abrams does. He's too nutty about flares, IMO. He purposefully used older cameras that would have more flares, the newer cameras don't cause as many flares. And if he didn't have one happening with his set lights, he had someone with a flashlight off camera causing them. It was a bit much, though I do like the movie.

Re: Star Trek Models and Resources

thanks for the many links. No luck with the old light cruiser, guess I will have to lern to do that one myself...eventually- long way from that still yet. But the links did provide me with many other meshes that I had not thought about yet. So excited! Its render time!
