never heard of her....... looks good

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

She's been pretty popular the last few years. I've only seen her in one movie, though, so I don't know if she'll be good in this role or not. In fact, it seems like Zack Snyder is going for star power for this movie. That can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing.

gmd3d March 27th, 2011 03:20 PM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

I hear you mate ... star power means very little ..... Batman and Robin jumps in to my mind very quickly :)

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Exactly. And then sometimes someone casts a movie with mostly unknown actors and it goes on to be one of the highest grossing movies of all time and spawns 2 sequels, 3 prequels, dozens of books and games as well as other merchandise, a TV series and even a religion. (Star Wars)

Hope she dyes her hair.

evil_genius_180 March 27th, 2011 04:51 PM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

I was thinking that also. I can see her in her natural hair color as Lana, since her character (usually) has red or blond hair but Lois is always a brunette.

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

brunettes HMmmm always liked brunettes ....(girls) but yes Lois has to be brunette,

evil_genius_180 March 28th, 2011 09:15 AM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Yes, I too like brunettes (of course, that's not to say I don't like blonds or redheads. ;))

wait and see. it looks like snyder is going for a solid cast, rather than just brand-names. I would be curious to see patrick stewart as lex luthor

No not me.... at least for me he would be miscast .... although I would like to see Stewart as a bad guy

evil_genius_180 March 28th, 2011 02:16 PM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Stewart is too old to play Lex, IMO. I don't think Lex has ever been that much older than Superman, he's usually around a few years to a decade older (I think.) Henry Cavill is 27, Patrick Stewart is 70. That's a 43-year age gap.

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

I'd prefer not to see Lex at all. He's been a main baddy in 4 of the 5 Super-films. Can anyone say "Over-used"?

Yeah. Ger expressed the same opinion in another thread and I agree. Sure, Lex is Superman's arch nemesis but he's not the only person Superman ever fought. Sure, Superman III wasn't the best Superman movie by any measure but at least they introduced a different villain into the mix. With that African story you mentioned, they have a good opportunity to save Lex for a later film, I hope they do.

gmd3d March 29th, 2011 02:25 AM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

I like Lex as a villain, but as mentioned over used, I would like to see other have a crack at Sups .... he could be in the new one but as a shadowy image somewhere.

Metallo (John Corben). is one I would like to see .....

Doomsday, anyone? :D

*puts up hand for a high-five, nobody responds, puts hand down and walks away sheepishly*

Seriously, it sounds like Zod will be in the movie, though I wonder if it will just be the Krypton parts or if he'll appear later also. Another one to consider that hasn't been done in any of the earlier live action films is Brainiac. He's a formidable foe.

Brainiac is another I would like to see....

Doomsday. sometime but not the first of the reboot :)
imo :)

as long as theres none of that cheesy villaneousness. if Zod is angry at Jor-El, there damn well BETTER be a good reason. In the first movies, Zod was PO'd 'cause Jor El cast the final vote at his trial, sentencing him to the PZ. At his trial - so now its all JE's fault that you tried to blow up the planet? riiiighht...

evil_genius_180 March 30th, 2011 09:08 PM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

"...and you alone will be held responsible by me."

Yeah, that was the whole reason. Though, at who else could he get pissed? I mean, everyone was about to die, only Jor-El's son was going to survive. If he got pissed at any of the other council members, he couldn't come back packin' a major grudge in Superman II. ;)

Why do people always call the old shows cheesy ??

personal revenge is one of the oldest reasons to be villainous, and I have heard many cases where someone from a trial swears revenge against a judge or trial lawyer. :stunned:

I used to work in a home of one such person and they had police protection 24 / 7. so I disagree about the Chris Reeve films esp the
first 2 they where great entertainment

Zod was a megalomaniac, so anything goes and revenge is a good
reason ...

I for one hope to see more cheese in films . I like cheese , :D

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Yeah, I don't know who she is, but who knows..... maybe she'll be great in the role. The guy they picked to play Superman looks good in the role, but I thought Brandon Routh did a good job in Superman Returns, a movie which I liked a lot.
But is it just me, or is anyone else sick and tired of Lex Luthor being the only villain he ever faces in the movies? I heard that they're wanting to have Zod, Non and Ursa as the villains in the new movie. Boring. It's been done.
I'd like to see Brainiac as the bad guy!

I like cheese also. And one expects a certain level of cheesiness in a comic book property. If you think about it, the characters are all extremists: Superman is good to the extreme, Lex and Zod are bad to the extreme. You can't have extremes like that without a certain level of cheesiness. But you have to keep the cheesiness down to a level that it doesn't take over the movie, as Richard Donner did in the original Superman movie and Richard Lester did in Superman II.

I agree with you, the original two movies are the best. Since I only read the comics fleetingly but I've been watching Superman: The Movie since I was a small child, it's the standard by which I measure all things Superman that I watch or see. Things are either as good as it or not as good as it in my book. Superman II is as good as it. Superman Returns is close, I really like that one, Superman III and Superman IV are farther from the mark, but I still like them. I have all 5 movies on DVD. :)

Yeah, we've been discussing possible villains in two or three threads around here. A few of us are sick of Lex being the bad guy and would like to see someone different. But, they just might do that. I agree about Brainiac, I'd like to see that. I also agree about Brandon Routh, I thought he did a good job at playing both Clark and Superman.

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Yeah, I guess cheese is OK.... I'd still like to see a decent movie though. I just don't like it though when they try to do too much in a film. Introduce too many characters.... they did it with the earlier Batman movies (introducing Robin, Batgirl, Bane, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze in the same movie) and with the last Spiderman movie (Venom and Sandman). When the writer/director/producer, etc tries to put too much stuff into a movie, it tends to dilute the whole thing.

evil_genius_180 April 1st, 2011 09:39 PM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Robin was introduced in Batman Forever, the others were introduced in Batman & Robin. I hear you, though. They did the same thing with the 3rd X-Men movie. They went mutant happy in that one.

arrowhead42 April 2nd, 2011 10:40 AM

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane

Yeah, I'd forgotten about how they did that with X-Men. It's as if they try to cram years worth of story into a 2 hour movie, and it just can't be done.
I'm hoping that they take it slower, and more deliberately with the Avengers. So far, I like what they're doing..... introducing the characters slowly, with a little teaser at the end of the Iron Man movies, getting us set for what's coming. I'm kinda lukewarm on Thor.... never been much of a fan. But the Captain America movie.... now THAT I'm looking forward to!

Oh, and one other note on such things......

Although the movie itself sucked, am I the only one who preferred the look of the Hulk in the 1st Hulk movie? In the 2nd movie (which was all-in-all a much better film) I thought the Hulk looked too.... cartoony. He was too dark green, and too..... I don't know. He just didn't seem to me as if he conveyed as much emotion. In the 1st movie, he looked more like the traditional Hulk from the earlier comic books. If they could take the visual look of the 1st movie Hulk, and place it into the story of the 2nd movie, I'd have liked it better. Anyone else with me?

I like both Incredible Hulk movies. They did a really good job with the CGI on the first one, I didn't feel it really got any better or worse in the reboot. I did feel the coloring of the Hulk in the first one felt more traditional, though he's been so many shades of green and even gray over the years that it's hard to say which is more accurate. (I never really read the comics)
