Pyotr Velikiy WIP
Ok, now it's my turn. It's not 100% accurate, but then none of stuff ever is :)

And the front
http://skyhawk223.concept40.com/pyotr4_25a.jpg |
Looks good! I see you recessed the deflector housing - nice variation.
|
That looks very good. I actually like those colors too. Too bad this is a Fed ship.
|
The colors are the best part. HA! :)
Thanks. The housing looks recessed in the drawings, so I thought why not... The colors are just temporary so I can more easily see the different parts. They sort of melded together when they were a uniform gray. |
That's right, the drawings do show a recessed housing! Also, please refer to Thomas's model for the forward slope of the collar. I will modify my schematics to fit that part of the model.
As for the color, some selected parts of the ship with a slight blue tint might be interesting, sort of like on the back of the secondary hull of the refit Enterprise. |
Wee little update...

What are those blue thingies on the inboard nacelles? Creeping Akiraprise-ism?
|
Yeah, that's it! No, just coloring so that I can see where that object ends and the nacelle object begins. If I hadn't colored it that way it would have blended in with the nacelle. I will probably make it black or a dark gray.
|
A little update. Added stripes and the bubble thing on the back of the secondary hull.

That's a fine looking ship, if I don't say so myself.
The inboard details on the nacelles still look about NX-01-ish, though. You have that 7-shaped thingy at the front but replaced its back end with one of the twin intercoolers from the end of the nacelle. The rest of the mesh looks great. |
Thanks. It's hard to make out what that area looks like from the 2d drawing. Is there any other source material you can point me to that shows what the inboard area of the nacelles look like?
|
Oh sure, there are lots of places, such as IDIC and Model Citizen, with pictures of the Enterprise nacelles.
http://members.aol.com/IDICPage/main.html http://www.mjtsc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ http://home.earthlink.net/~casimiro/blueprints.html - Nice schematics |
Thanks. I will check them out.
My version of the ship looks taller than Thomas' version. I think I like his better. :) |
It does seem a tad taller but I like yours too. Keep going!!!
|
Maybe the increased height is an illusion due to the bright markings?
|
Could be. Oh well. Onward and upward. I am working on the pennants now. Have the nacelle pennant applied already just need to add the saucer pennant.
|
By the way, if you don't want to name this ship Pyotr Velikiy, here's a list of all the ships in the class:
USS PYOTR VELIKIY NCC-1670 USS SHRELEV II NCC-1671 USS YI SUN-SHIN NCC-1672 USS JOHN PAUL JONES NCC-1673 USS TAV NCC-1674 USS ELIZABETH I NCC-1675 USS ATROX NCC-1676 USS TOGO NCC-1677 USS ROMMEL NCC-1678 USS FRIEDRICH BARBAROSSA NCC-1679 USS USS GOYATHLAY NCC-1680 USS WASHINGTON NCC-1681 USS NIAKENCHIIS NCC-1682 USS SALAH AD-DIN NCC-1683 USS GIAP NCC-1684 USS HANNIBAL NCC-1685 USS ZERISSHEBI NCC-1686 USS DE GRASSE NCC-1687 USS REXX NCC-1688 USS GANTU NCC-1689 |
Oh, now you tell us... :)
|
I'm looking forward to the history posting over at the museum. I thought they only built the one.
|
Any idea how far back the pennant on the main hull entends?
|
I sent all the stuff to Bernd. He will post it whenever he gets around to it, I guess. Soon, I hope. I think the history is pretty interesting, if I say so myself!
|
Added some more detail here, some more there...Still need to do the shuttle bay and the yellow square thing on the bridge module.

|
That's looking fine. I do notice on the front view some strange blending/zoom effect on that grey patch around the windows on the disc edge.
|
Yeah, I'm not happy about that. Boolean subtract mesh errors.
|
Have you tried to shapemerge?
Or detaching that section from the mesh and preforming the compound opperation on the detached faces? |
Can't do that in trueSpace. Wish I could. I tried to fix by adding extra geometry, but to no avail. I guess it will have to be hidden by careful placement of lights. Very annoying!
