Pyotr Velikiy WIP

Ok, now it's my turn. It's not 100% accurate, but then none of stuff ever is :)

And the front

Thomas P April 25th, 2003 01:46 PM

Looks good! I see you recessed the deflector housing - nice variation.

Masao April 25th, 2003 10:36 PM

That looks very good. I actually like those colors too. Too bad this is a Fed ship.

skyhawk223 April 28th, 2003 06:23 AM

The colors are the best part. HA! :)
Thanks. The housing looks recessed in the drawings, so I thought why not...
The colors are just temporary so I can more easily see the different parts. They sort of melded together when they were a uniform gray.

Masao April 28th, 2003 07:23 PM

That's right, the drawings do show a recessed housing! Also, please refer to Thomas's model for the forward slope of the collar. I will modify my schematics to fit that part of the model.

As for the color, some selected parts of the ship with a slight blue tint might be interesting, sort of like on the back of the secondary hull of the refit Enterprise.

Wee little update...

Masao May 2nd, 2003 04:37 PM

What are those blue thingies on the inboard nacelles? Creeping Akiraprise-ism?

skyhawk223 May 5th, 2003 05:48 AM

Yeah, that's it! No, just coloring so that I can see where that object ends and the nacelle object begins. If I hadn't colored it that way it would have blended in with the nacelle. I will probably make it black or a dark gray.

skyhawk223 May 12th, 2003 01:49 PM

A little update. Added stripes and the bubble thing on the back of the secondary hull.

Masao May 12th, 2003 05:22 PM

That's a fine looking ship, if I don't say so myself.
The inboard details on the nacelles still look about NX-01-ish, though. You have that 7-shaped thingy at the front but replaced its back end with one of the twin intercoolers from the end of the nacelle.
The rest of the mesh looks great.

skyhawk223 May 13th, 2003 05:27 AM

Thanks. It's hard to make out what that area looks like from the 2d drawing. Is there any other source material you can point me to that shows what the inboard area of the nacelles look like?

Masao May 13th, 2003 07:14 PM

Oh sure, there are lots of places, such as IDIC and Model Citizen, with pictures of the Enterprise nacelles.

skyhawk223 May 14th, 2003 11:09 AM

Thanks. I will check them out.
My version of the ship looks taller than Thomas' version. I think I like his better. :)

Thomas P May 14th, 2003 01:24 PM

It does seem a tad taller but I like yours too. Keep going!!!

Masao May 14th, 2003 06:08 PM

Maybe the increased height is an illusion due to the bright markings?

skyhawk223 May 15th, 2003 05:51 AM

Could be. Oh well. Onward and upward. I am working on the pennants now. Have the nacelle pennant applied already just need to add the saucer pennant.

Masao May 15th, 2003 06:00 PM

skyhawk223 May 16th, 2003 05:42 AM

Oh, now you tell us... :)

Thomas P May 16th, 2003 10:21 AM

I'm looking forward to the history posting over at the museum. I thought they only built the one.

skyhawk223 May 16th, 2003 02:04 PM

Any idea how far back the pennant on the main hull entends?

Masao May 16th, 2003 07:21 PM

I sent all the stuff to Bernd. He will post it whenever he gets around to it, I guess. Soon, I hope. I think the history is pretty interesting, if I say so myself!

skyhawk223 May 28th, 2003 08:59 AM

Added some more detail here, some more there...Still need to do the shuttle bay and the yellow square thing on the bridge module.

Masao May 28th, 2003 07:25 PM

That's looking fine. I do notice on the front view some strange blending/zoom effect on that grey patch around the windows on the disc edge.

skyhawk223 May 29th, 2003 05:42 AM

Yeah, I'm not happy about that. Boolean subtract mesh errors.

Hito May 29th, 2003 09:05 AM

Have you tried to shapemerge?
Or detaching that section from the mesh and preforming the compound opperation on the detached faces?

skyhawk223 May 30th, 2003 05:51 AM

Can't do that in trueSpace. Wish I could. I tried to fix by adding extra geometry, but to no avail. I guess it will have to be hidden by careful placement of lights. Very annoying!
