Experience shows :) very hard to get the characters right :)

I want to get as much detail as I can .. when I do the image I have in mind (well there are 2 images) I want a good close up .. cockpit included ... Fretslayer is kindly giving me a hand for them ..

I had to redo that part .. I did not provide enough polys in the cylinder .... I have gon from 60.. to 80 .. it would never be enough for close up .. I am wondering if I should push it to a round 100 .. :)

Outstanding.

The more I hang around this place the worse my animation skills become.

Since this isn't a large starship with tons of modeled details and it's meant for close-ups, I'd go heavy on the polies in the curves. You won't need to budget as much with a fighter as you do a larger mesh (unless you plan scenes with large meshes, then you might want to consider it.) But 100 doesn't seem like too much to have those engines nice and smooth to me. :)

Looks great so far, bro. :D

I found I had a few minor scale problems and had to redo it.. and it was just to sunny out to say in over the long weekend.. Er Bank Holiday weekend over here.

so I made my fixes last night. the underside is the area I worked on and I added a curve to the main frame .. it curves so that was thrown me of a little.

I a going to Spain in 2 weeks I really want to finish this by then..

Thanks mate .. I find after a long brake even a week or 10 days .. it takes me a while to get back in to modeling in cgi

Re: Thunder fighter (Buck Rogers 25th)

I hear you on that one... If i take a break it can take as long as a couple of months to get back in the mood.

Re: Thunder fighter (Buck Rogers 25th)

Vertibevel and Super Size are two of my best modeling friends :D

gmd3d June 3rd, 2008 12:46 PM

Re: Thunder fighter (Buck Rogers 25th)

never use supersize .. I have to look as some of these LW tools again :)

Darrell Lawrence June 3rd, 2008 01:08 PM

Re: Thunder fighter (Buck Rogers 25th)

Super Size lets you center/move and measure/resize things numerically very nicely :)

Re: Thunder fighter (Buck Rogers 25th)
