3 D CGI WIP GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat - MAX 6

Hello all, this is sort of my first 3D model I've done in MAX 6, most of my experiance with the program has been for game modding, but not actual modelling. I'm having some troubles with the hull, right now I'm using simple boxes with FFD boxes and scaling each segment around the hull, is there a better way of doing this? I have a feeling once I get to the cockpit/nose of the craft its not going to work as well. Any advice would be good, as I'm pretty new at this.
