Default Lasers

hi all,

I was curious if anyone knows how can I create cool laser effects. I have the "straight" lasers down, but I saw on a site:

http://www.3dinteractive.com/2k.htm

Dave Jerrard, wrote a tutorial online and in a "July/June" issue of NewTekniques, on where you can create something like the Ghostbusters Plasma streams. But the NewTekniques website is gone.

Thanks.
