I really like that even if it is unrealistic. Who is United Cutlery? Are they actually making one like this? I absolutely love that hilt - makes it look like a lightsaber!

Damn - they've got some good prices, compared to most of the sites I've looked at. Now to see how long it takes to ship an order - I waited almost six months for an order from a different retailer, and finally cancelled it so I wouldn't have to leave the money sitting on my credit card.

I have the Ninja version of this sword and it's awesome. It's extremely strong and very well built. I do recommend it.
As for the model, awe inspiring doesn't even begin to describe it.

Ooh, that is a mighty impressive sword, seems very accurate to the original. I've never seen Samurai 3000. I is a film, right?
That swordsdirect seems to have good prices, but they don't have as wide a selection as swordsonline.com. I've got my eye on a few babies there...

Very well done, a friend of mine has this sword and yours looks better than the original!
The one thing about this sword. The hilt is massive, it weighs a TON! *lol*

Sort of off-topic, but I don't know much about swords, and I was browsing the SwordsDirect webpage...
What is a "Volkoth Battle Sword"? (it's at the bottom of the same page as the Samaurai 3000) It looks an awful lot like they ripped off the Klingon bat'leth...

There are some licensing issues with Paramount about using the actual name, but the shape seems to be allowable. They also have a Klingon dagger in there and a Final Fantasy 7 buster sword.

One thing I have to say about the mesh is that the blade is a bit too short... it's more like a long knife or a shortsword... that's allowable, since Samurais used to carry a kind of spring-loaded shortsword, but you might want to think about lengthening the blade. Aside from that, I absolutely love this mesh... and the sword itself... *drool* But I'll stick by my cheapass Dao.

Zanith, did you read the whole thread? There is a real one. It's a bit expensive, but buyable.
I'd love to have the ninja version (straight blade) formatted for Poser. I've got a marine who would just love it...

S'okay. I don't have the cash available, either. That's why I said I hope one of the dealers at Shore Leave will have some. They usually have better prices than the online retailers...

Ahh yes, the Samurai3000 series.
Great looking mesh, but a warning to the people who want to buy one now.
I'm a swordbuf, I love them, really do. And what I can tell you of these swords, is that they are SLO's. That means Sword Like Objects.
They are wallhangers, pure decorative. They can have a sharp edge, but not as sharp as a real katana. Also, the tang, the part of the blade that goes into the hilt, is what is known as a rat-tail tang, a short, thin bolt, that can take no real presure. I've heard of people that had rat-tial tangs break only because they swinged it around a bit. And if you were to strike a something hard with it, you will break it too.
Now, if you want a deco-sword, to hang on your wall, buy it. But only look at it. If you want to buy a realsword, go over here: http://www.swordforum.com . Sign in at there forums, and learn. Ask quastions, don't be afraid to do so. Everybody has to start learning somewere.
