Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
It looks good. If you put it in some scenes with some real lighting, I'll bet it will look even better.

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
Here is a new little project - the ANDROMEDA/ANTARES-CLASS
I plan to make two different versions of it - one more TOS-like an d one, that matches with the DAEDALUS- and SCHARNHORST-Model of my BREAKABLE-Universe, a little more ENT-like...
The ship should basically look like this - but there will be a few modifications in my MU-Pre-TOS-Version:
I´ve startet yesterday with the MU-variant - in MAX2009...
Here is a first shot of the mesh:

I do rmember of that old ship.
Your version is looking good. Those retangles (with rounded corners) at her side will be weapons?

I guess no.
In the front-view you can see that these round corners are domes - and I think it´s a special scanner-system.

She's coming along nicely. Though, for a more screen accurate hull font, I'd suggest the Airborne fonts:

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
Yeah, you've gotta hand it to Charles Casimiro. He saw what was available as far as fonts, didn't like any of them, and made his own.

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
While I´m working on the NCC-1764 - also for my MU-FF-Verse - (by reading the fantastic Lightwave-Tutorial from Taranis) the ANDROMEDA-CLASS has to wait a little...
The first time I´ve taken a closer look at the LW-Editor, I found this tool a little... strange. But now, after working on the "Connie", I´ve changed my mind, and I´ve converted the ISS PHOENIX to finish it in LW at the begin of 2014.
This is my first LW-model after the first half of the LW-Tutorial...
I hope to finish it before christmas...
I plan to modify the Model in the end a little bit and give it some yellow MU-marks and the Logo of the Terran Empire...

Many thanx...
I´m working with LW 9.2
Here is an actual update. I guess I install the deflector-dish and the impulse-drives tomorrow.
The whole ship with the actual details:
A closer look at the narcelle-details:
Another view on it:
And finally a zoom to show the little details:

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
I'm assuming you got your copy of Lightwave used. If you did, you can transfer the license to your name and download 9.6.1 from the website. I did that with my copy of LW 10.0 that I got off of Ebay, I transferred the license and then was able to upgrade to 10.1. All I did was contact customer service and show them proof of ownership (Ebay invoice and page with serial numbers) and they transferred it to my name.
The ship is looking great so far.
I just realized I forgot to put those little tabs that hold the deflector domes in place on mine.

No, I meant to say the bussard collectors. (boy, I'm messing up everywhere ) There were the three little metal tabs that literally held (or hold) the domes in place. When I built my nacelles, I kinda forgot those.

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
I´ve installed the windows. (I hate windows... )
A few details (and the Reg./Name) are missing. I guess this baby will be ready next Weekend.
I know, that the original model didn´t have red and green Positionlights at the lower half of the disc, but I like Starfleet-Ships more if they have it (like the NX-CLASS)
I´ve also positioned the lower Positionlights a little more inside.
When the Normal-Variant (USS DEFIANT) is ready, I´ll begin to modify the Primary Hull and the Name for the MU-Variant (ISS DEFIANT).

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
It's looking great.
I hate Windows too. I prefer Linux, but Lightwave won't run on Linux. Oh wait, that's probably not the windows you're talking about.
I just textured the name and registry on mine. Stripes too, for that matter.

Re: ulimann644´s Fleetyard
Excellent work. I found the windows to be a pain too... .
Texturing other details would be an advantage,, but my skills there are weak.
how did you find the tutorial...
Was it easy to follow, enough description, to much description!!.
Pro and Cons.. ?
Barring in mind I wrote it with new Lightwave modellers in mind

I guess by planning different Versions of one Ship it´s better to modelling it (especially Reg and Name. USS DEFIANT with NCC-1764, ISS DEFIANT with NCC-1764, ISS DEFIANT with ICC-1764 after 2165...)
BTW: ICC = Imperial Construction Contract.
This is the ship so far - I guess, I´ll model the Reg. at the Narcelles again (the Spaces between the line and the NCC/1764 aren´t looking good).
When it´s done and some minor Details are ready, I recolor a few parts of the ship and add some specular- and bump-maps
