Rick, different ships than the other thread. The other thread is a Mothership. The first one here is a fighter, and the last two are transports.
The fighter and transport look similar, but it you look closer you'll see they're not the same |

how to do lightning in photoshop
this will work for any version of photoshop. I use photoshop 5.0... It works best with low res (72dpi) files
1. Create a new layer of black and white, fill it with the clouds filter
2. Render 'difference clouds' filter
3. Solarise filter
4. Edit - adjust - auto levels
5. Invert the image (ctrl-i)
6. edit - adjust - levels. Move the middle slider to the right until the blur of the white begins to disappear. Adjust to suit yourself.
7. Select a suitable selection of "lightning" and cut it out. paste into your image as a new layer and change the layer mode to screen to get rid of the black
8. Edit - adjust - colour balance and make it whatever colour you like....
ta -dahhhh!
This is what I did to make the lightning in this image (it's an oldie but a goodie now)
