Default New E-Mail Virus!

Norton Anti-Virus just interncepted nearly 100 e-mails headed my way which had the W32.Novarq.A@mm worm. All of them were from different addresses, and pointed to 3dgladiators.net addy's that do not exist (like bob@3dgladiators.net, etc.) I only got them because any undeliverable mail for this server goes straight to me. Aren't I lucky?

Anyway, here is Symantec's profile on the worm:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com...varg.a@mm.html

Just to be safe, I would suggest that you don't open anything with an attachment (even from a 3DG address) unless you're expecting it - and let your anti-virus program scan it before you do.

That's all for now - if you need me, I'll be turning away a few hundred more infected e-mails...

I haven't seen this one yet, but I will be on the look out for it, and if I do happen to see it, which I doubt I will (I use ZoneAlarm) I will tell you, although I hardly ever get any emails with any attachments

If it's a worm, it's probably a backdoor for hackers like a trojan horse is. Those seem to be the crowd pleasers more these days than the ones that destroy data. That's probably because they leave data vulnerable to be stolen instead of merely destroying it. That's why I never open e-mail with attachments unless I know the person sending it.

At least that's how I understand email worms to work.
