3 D CGI Giant Robots From Max32 to Poser7

I tried moving two giant robot sketches from Max32-bit to Poser-7. Mostly it seems to have worked, and I have a couple questions.

1-how can I tweak the smoothing in poser to make the end results more like Max? (specifically in the 2nd pic around the shoulder area is weird)

2-how do I reset the axis of each part without causing it to do a wild morph? (example, when I tried to reset the axis of the front right skirt panel on the 1st picture, the whole thing started skewing dramatically)

These are both WIPs, so I didn't try to migrate their textures yet.

Thanks for helping out!
