You'd think a computer that powerful would come with at least a gig of RAM, not a mere 667 MB.

Um, it does come with a gig of ram.
The memory it uses is 667 MegaHertz.
It's actually impossible to get 667 Megs of RAM.

You'd be surprised what a G4 can pull off.
Even with my employee discount, I couldn’t afford it.
... and I hate you for reminding me of that.

Mkay. Either way, it looks like a badass computer. The one most of us can dream of owning.

Folks... Did you know that every year people go without kick ass computers. If you feel as bad about that as I do, then dontate to the "Give Animators Overpriced, Over-Powered Computers" fund. Remember, you can do so much to prevent processor starvation.
Please... Give.

If I had the spare cash, I wouldn't be working with an ancient PC myself. However, once I get the PC of my dreams, we'll see about helping others realize their dreams.

As much as I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE (did I say LOVE yet?) to get one of the Intel PowerMacs, I hate being tied to a desk.
My PowerBook is not only my first Mac but it's my first laptop too, and let me tell you, it is soooo awesome to be able to sit in bed and use the computer instead of sitting at a desk. Never again, even though I really want a PowerMac or even an iMac (those are just pure sex).

I look at that one as both. With that DVI port, you can plug it in and power up to the 30". Just run a full sized keyboard and mouse and you have a desktop.

So... We just got one in at my shop. MUST HAVE!!!
I was worried that Cinema would not take advantage of the 4 proccessers. It does. My render time was cut to 1/3rd. And that was on the 2.6. Cant wait to try the 3.0

I don't know. One thing I do know is that new Mac is brought to you by the Ipod. Before that thing, Apple was sinking faster than a person wearing cement shoes. That worthless piece of crap single-handedly saved Apple from folding faster than a bad poker hand. (Yes, that's enough analogies for now.)

Uh, no...While the iPod has significantly helped Apple it was the iMac, released in 98, that really brought the company back from the brink. The iPod has helped spread awareness of Apple into places it wouldn't normally have gone but the iMac was more significant in bringing Apple back than anything else.

True, the iMac was a big deal. However, some of the other larger corporations that ran Windows-based systems were still a danger to them until Apple released the iPod, something nobody else had. Not everybody wanted an iMac in '98, when you could get little software to run on it, but lots of people bought those iPods. And, as you said, the iPod brought Apple back into the spotlight, so thanks for proving my point. It's not exactly a secret. They admit the iPod really put them back into the game. I saw a story on Dateline last year where they said that.

The iPod was not unique. There were several hard drive based mp3 players on the market before the iPod. Also the iPod was Mac only until the third generation product.
And I didn't prove your point. I said the iPod spread awareness of Apple into places it normally wouldn't've gone, which is a far cry from "the iPod brought Apple back into the spotlight".
Apple was in the spotlight already thanks to the iMac. The iPod just made the light brighter.

Actually the turnaround was due to the return of Steve Jobs. You can blame that temporary hack they had befor for the fall. Now... WE WILL RULE THE WORLD!!!
I mean A: How can you rule against a computer that runs both OS's
and B: Give me the specs for a computer you as an average consumer would buy. Something with the stats to help you run your 3D to everyday work, and I will show you a mac that will do the same for less.
Look at this:
http://web.mac.com/morganzacd5p/iWeb...cture%2019.png
Plus, on top of all that... Our computers dont explode like Dell.

OK, whatever. I really don't care. I must've misheard or just wasn't paying attention to the report I saw. I don't really pay that much attention to Apple anyway.

Yeah, I knew what you were doing and wasn't biting. Honestly, I've only ever used PCs, so I have no idea if Macs are better. However, my likelyhood of ever buying one recently shot up when I saw a commercial saying Macs run Windows now. Despite my deep-rooted hatred for Microsoft (except the XBOX) and Windows, it's what I'm used to.
