Ugh, not this again. It's a cute idea, but not really practical. Also, I wonder about the guy (if he is in fact a guy) who is proposing the idea. He claims to be an engineer, yet he won't give his real name and he also offers no real evidence that his "plan" will actually work. He shows no technical schematics for his proposed systems, just a side view of the Enterprise refit with "this goes here" tags all over it. I can make one of those right now, it proves nothing. Plus, there are a lot more efficient ships being designed by people who we know are really engineers. To be honest, this sounds more like a fanboy proposal than an actual "this could work" proposal. But, that's just my $0.02 on the matter.

Again? Was there other talk of this before?

Anyway, just thought I'd share it when I ran across it. And no I don't think it will ever happen. Ever. Too many reasons it won't and no point in going in to them there all pretty obvious.

Just thought it was a fun thing to share.

I don´t believe its been posted here before, but it has on other 3d sites.

where the heading I think was, "we could build the Enterprise in 20 years" ..... I thought at first it was about me..... original captain slow as it only taken me 6 years to build it.

lol.

its interesting but he must be off his head.. I say anyone of you guys could build design and build a far better and practical design to do the same job without geeking out on Star Trek.

imo

Agreed.

I love the Enterprise design. It's beautiful. But never worked in a real world sense for me. I know blasphemy. See other designs that look like they could really be done all the time.

And yeah totally thought the same thing about the title when I saw the article. Which was half the point of putting it here.

Yeah, sorry. I guess I shouldn't have said 'again' as this is the first discussion about this here. However, I've seen it on a couple other sites, especially Scifi-Meshes.

Yeah, it's definitely a fun idea. It also makes you stop and think for a moment.
