Amazing scene - I like the colours for it.

Is the Planet a pic or a mesh ??

It's probably a mesh render, since there aren't any background picture credits. Besides, I think The Animaniac makes his own planets.

Great image as usual. I really love how the chrome on the ship is reflecting the dock and the planet (another reason I think the planet is a mesh. )

Thanks! Yes, all my Planets are Meshes, it looks better if all is in 3D with the same Light-Source.

That's because your planets always look great. Some of us don't have that so we have to cheat.

The second image looks great. Because of the angle, it looks like the ship is about to blow out of that dock and go into slipstream at any moment.

Another thing that helps is having 3D software that can handle big textures. For some reason, trueSpace (which I use) can't handle larger than 4k textures (and it barely handles 4k.) So, I can't use high quality textures. It also tends to do weird crap when I back-light a planet mesh. So, I usually wind up making my planets in Gimp or using Nasa imagery and matching up the lighting as best I can.
