U.S.S. Defiant

Another small project. The Defiant.

Originally it was for a project I was doing, but since then I have hooked up with some people doing a fan film project, so my Defiant is going to be re-badged as Republic.

Here are a few shots, non textured at the moment.

EXCELLENT WORK !! I only wish that there where more available .. Fabios is showing its age for the close up shots I like to do.. looking forward to seeing more .....

Is the saucer section too thick, or is it just the perspective?

definitely just perspective. That saucer is 100% on the mark.

For blueprints I used the Sinclair designs for most of the ship, and some of the details, especially the bottom I used the Casmiro design as the Sinclair had a couple of minor inaccuracies.

@Warrior, heh heh. Funny you should ask it the way you did. Project as in wildly different than either. First off we are going for much more "realistic" that the others.

Real sets, and real coaching on the acting so we don't get the stilted and unbelievably bad delivery of lines we have seen in some of the fan film projects out there to date.

Also, we are not going to try to duplicate the old look and feel of the Enterprise and grainy film quality. 23rd century, but with the look and feel of modern effects. Think of how the Defiant looked in the Enterprise episode "In a Mirror Darkly" and you'll get what we are doing.

Sounds awesome. This is taking place where?

Real sets are being built, ala Exeter's?

The entire production will be in Southern California. I'm not sure exactly what workloads will be split between Los Angeles and San Diego.

The plan right now is to build the sets. None of us care for the green screen sets seen in some of the other productions. I don't want to say anything that will offend people since I know there is a lot of work involved, but some of that green screen stuff out there right now looks like s#%t.

We have a professional costume designer who works in Hollywood who is going to cover all the outfitting needs for the production, and she has already come up with quite a few really nice designs for the non Starfleet characters.

We have a website coming soon, I just need to finish some of the graphics for hte main page. I'll post the link here when the site is ready.

I like the addition of the hatchs .. the 2 just before the sensor dome .. are they for the phasers ???

to be honest I have no idea. They were on the blueprints, so my ship and Moriarty's ship have them.

I suppose that is as good an explanation as any, since the ship actually lacks any phaser ports that are obvious.
