Great stuff. Did you use one of the "Airborne" fonts?

Re: Building the USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 in Lightwave
She's looking awesome, bro. You're modeling all of the right stuff, IMO. Now you can get as close to the hull markings as you want and you won't lose quality, like you do with textures.

Re: Building the USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 in Lightwave
Looks EXCELLENT Ger! Really a beauty!
About the bussards, I suggest you to look the tutorial made by Madkoi.
About textures, I pointed Fabio´s site cause he is a Lightwave user, as you, but the old Scifi-art has a good tut too, therefore foccused on Studio Max.

Re: Building the USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 in Lightwave
Texturing is something you really don't want to over think on a ship like this. I've experimented with hull paneling and stuff like that, though it really all looks icky. All you really need are simple maps with some "dirt" on them. I also like to put some very light grid lines on mine, in an attempt to mimic the look of the ship after someone drew them on (sometime around season two.) But, those are just my personal thoughts on this.
For the bussards: textures.

Re: Building the USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 in Lightwave
Yeah I am looking at simple textures for the ship...... I never liked what they did to the model in the Smithsonian.
So I am experimenting with some ideas...... I like it to be subtle as possible.
I will check out those links Starship, thanks again

Re: Building the USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 in Lightwave
It looks great to me, bro. Textures are something that come with time and experience and a lot of trial and error (especially error.) But you're definitely off to a great start in that department. Plus, you don't want to over texture the classic E.

Thanks Chris..
I have updated the images via Flickr.
I think I could improve on the nacelle struts, I think they could be rounder.

I don't know about that, they look good to me. Of course, I also don't know exactly how round they were on the studio model.

Re: Building the Classic USS ENTERPRISE in Lightwave (now released)
It´s TO MUCH generous from you, make the tut free Ger. All that time spent in doing it... a hard work, I know!
I´m not a lightwave user, but now you gave me a reason for at least try it. Knowing where the buttons are, can help me when importing/exporting from/to lightwave.
Thank you a zillion of times!!!

Your welcome Starship,
It was just over a year of work (not every day) but my mind was on it working out approaches to some parts, and starting again to make it better if I could.
Rounder tool in Lightwave can at time not work as expected as it only works on 4 sided polygons, so when I was work on the secondary hull and the 3 umbilical´s and the fantail and warp engine areas I had to pay particular attention to how the polygons are arranged.
Vertibevel or Jettobevel would have removed the need to work so much on these areas as much, but as a foundation course I thought the long road was the better one. let me know your thoughts on the tutorial
But I only wanted to build the model with lightwave from out of the box approach, in doing so I learned alot myself.
Note: that I planed the model without consideration of texturing it, it was an exercise in modelling only.
But I am looking into learning UVMAPPING and perhaps in the future I will add that to the tutorial.
I have provided a donation button on my blog if anyone wants to donate,
at the moment I am looking at another tutorial project and I will plan it accordingly.

Re: Building the Classic USS ENTERPRISE in Lightwave (now released)
No problem.
I´m not changing the tutorial approch, only its appearance and some errors in text I found... and instead of 30 files to download ... it will be 10.
Hope to have it back up in the next few days
