Default I Am Me

Hi guys,

I thought I would crowd this area of the forums up a bit with a piece of my poetry (maybe a couple more too in the future!). Heh.

This is just a poem that was inspired by a deep conversation last night and by looping one piece of music over and over and . . . Yeah. You get the idea. So, without further adieu . . . My piece.

I Am Me
D.M. Anderson

Morally tied,
Anchor bound to principles,
This is the person I am.

A hopeless romantic,
Always looking to fall into fates favor,
I have become a romantic.
A player of music,
A player of words,
A teller of stories,
A seeker of romance,
This is who I have become.

To be able to live a life,
Full of commitment,
Loyalty,
Self-rewarding success,
Simplicity,
And to have a family,
This is who I wish to become.

Upon my moments of laziness I allow my mind to wonder,
My spirit to mend,
And my productive ways give reign to inactivity.
Upon my moments of passion I allow my spirit to soar,
My heart to ignite,
My emotions to pour out,
Like a bucket into a pot of plants.
Giving life and inspiration,
Motivation and comfort,
Security and loyalty.
Upon my moments of rage I allow myself to brute,
To measure with the grumpiness of old men,
The stubbornness of mountains,
To become a Julius Caesar.
Upon my moments of sadness I allow myself to crumble,
To weep immeasurably,
To wonder what it is that has brought me to this point in my path,
To rival the movie stars of that past,
In their performances that won them awards.

I allow myself to tumble down the peaks I have spent so much effort to climb;
Because I know for every peak their must be its valley.
I allow myself to understand that every bad thing in life is a lesson,
And that every lesson learned will guide me at the next fork that comes upon my path,
That it will guide me the next time my ship has to be steered a new course.

I like to live a life of simplicity,
A life of contentiveness,
A life in which I do not feel contained or cornered,
But a life in which I can flow across the planes of my existence,
A life in which I can allow my ship to wonder the seas in search of new horizons.

In my dreams I would no do such a thing alone.
Standing beside me,
In my dreams,
Standing beside me would be another.
A loved one.
The being who has stood by me,
Helped me through my faults,
Smiled with me in my glory days,
Cried with me in our moments of sadness,
And who gave me strength when I was weary.

For as I come to look at myself I see myself for who I am.
I am a man with many faults,
Many passions,
And a man who bares many gifts.
I am a dreamer,
A hopeless romantic,
A voice of advice an opinion,
And an artist aspiring to capture the hearts of many.
And to even make a few cry.
And to even touch them, too.

Perfection is no where near who I am,
Is it no where near what I have become,
And it is no where near what I will be in my last days.
I will, however, become who I was meant to become.
I will become where my path has taken me,
Where my sea has guided me.
I will not ever be perfect.

For all my flaws, failures, and fumbles all I can say is . . .
I am human. I am me.

Oh, it's just part of a speech for a character in something else I'm working on.

Perhaps soon...

I usually don't like to read a poem quite this long but felt compelled to continue, dragged on by this unique persona. If this is truly YOU, you are a person well worth knowing. If it is only a figment of your imagination, share some more of it with us.

You did threaten to do some more...........Please do so....................Darlene
