Default Another Endeavour

I keep saying to myself that if I start another model, it won't be another Trek ship.

And I decide that I probably won't start another model for a while.

Then something catches my attention. Drat.

This is about equally based on the Excelsior and on several of John Eaves' unused sketches for a ship called the Endeavour which ultimately didn't make its way into "First Contact".

This is early and rough. The superstructure may change a lot. The saucer is the size of Excelsior's saucer.

Looks interesting so far. One of the things I never liked about the Excelsior was the neck. This looks much better.

Neato! I have never understood, though, how the hangar bay doors on the Excelsior class are supposed to slide open with their severe slope... perhaps the Endeavour model will show us the way...?

More, more!

This isn't a lot of progress, but I had to pretty much completely rebuild the engineering hull because the proportions weren't right.

Great start although I have to say; this and a lot of new ships, cannon and fan created. I miss secondary hulls. I like the ship and it isn't nearly as bad as most of the newer ships. Good ship, but I miss the secondary hull.

Are you going to do an excelsior one day too?

:hopes:

This one looks like it might be pretty cool. And like Starship said, can you post some of the sketches so we can see what it might look like all finished?

Sovy front/bussard collector with excelsior rear nacelle. That's my two cents.

Other than the bridge and the superstructure, the saucer modeling is finished:

And thanks to Reaperman's instructions, here are some wireframes:

I like the nacelles - but I do think that open space between them could use something. Perhaps a Miranda-style weapons pod?

Very nice, although I'm going with Rosel on this one, I think the necells are a bit oversized....

I agree. The nacells are HUGE. They'd also look much better slung under the pylons, I think, instead of ontop of them.

I think the nacelles are fine in size, the thing is with no neck on the ship the look big, maybe have them pointing the other way, have them below the pilon rather then above. Like the Miranda/Reliant nacelles.

I agree... either that or a Nebula-style sensor pallet (the flat, Farragut kind, not the oblong one from the Phoenix that looked like it came from an AWAC model kit).

edit: Or, maybe a combination of that and what Melvin suggested with tucking the nacelles under. It could work.
