Default I need a little help with human figures in 3dS.

I was wondering if there are any figure animation gurus out there that can help me with my bone structures and such. I'm having trouble getting the skin to morph realistically around the joints. I have manipulated the envelopes for the bones and have not quite got the result that I like. Is there a way to assign atributes to verticies manually?

Does anyone know of any good tutorials on the subject?

Thanks for any help.
